Certificate of Applied Science in Residential and Commercial Electricity is a degree certificate program designed to introduce students the standards and skill training necessary to be a licensed residential and commercial electrician in West Virginia. It is expected that students will sit for the WV State Electrical Apprenticeship Exam before completing the program. Further training beyond this program will be required to be eligible to sit for the Electrical Journeyman’s license. State Licensure is required for most forms of employment in this field. Different licenses issued by the WV State Fire Marshal (apprentice, specialty, journeyman, master) impact the types of work you can perform and whether or not it must be supervised.
